Scissor Sisters is joining Lady Gaga on seven additional dates on the early 2011 run of her Monster Ball World Tour. The band will now open on a total of 24 dates, beginning with the February 19th show at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ and including shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden Arena (February 21st & 22nd), Los Angeles’ Staples Center (March 28th) and Honda Center in Anaheim (March 31st).
Check out this photo shoot from Harper’s Bazaar UK 2010 featuring model Julia Hafstrom, ironically called Velvet Goldmine. Well, it just goes to show, the glam rock trend is back and making it’s way into mainstream media. Of course I would have loved to see clothing a little more over the top, but that’s just me. It’s still a cool shoot and Julia looks fierce!
If you’re in the U.S. have a safe and glamorous Holiday weekend!
If you love the Glam Rock scene past or present, then this movie is worth a viewing. Velvet Goldmine is loosely based on David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust character and takes place in Britain in the height of the 70’s Glam Rock scene.
It can get a little dark at times but it’s a decent story and the costumes are fantastic! Here are a few pics from the movie and the trailer. A good Sunday afternoon movie.

I’m seriously loving the rock n roll vibe in this shoot! Plus the fact that it features 2 of my all time favorite models Georgia May Jagger, daughter of rock legend Mick Jagger, and Sasha Pivovarova, one of the highest paid models right now. They’re all pretty fierce though and look like they could be taken from a page in glam rock time.
Well, the weekend is almost here. Time to break out your vintage Blondie albums, invite some friends over, put on your best glam rock outfits and party like it’s 1979! And if you do, send us some pics and they may get posted on Glam Rock Couture!
DUST is the second collection from MANIAMANIA and visits the iconography of ancient Egypt and the aesthetic, mood and music of pop deity David Bowie.
Part I has derived inspiration from a 1969 image of a young Bowie dressed as a Sphinx by photographer Brian Ward, and imagery from backstage footage of Ziggy Stardust….
I’ve been waiting for these boots to come out for months and I’m so happy I snagged a pair! I got them from Edge of Urge. They are Jeffery Campbell Lita Glitter Platforms and they are fierce!
My handsome husband also got me an early X-mas gift…..the Jeffery Campbell Glitter Lydia Platforms.
Now all I need is a really cool glam rock event and I’m all set! Of course I’ll probably wear them to the grocery store just because. 🙂
If you are planning to visit NYC any time soon and find yourself starving after a night of glamorous club hopping, there is a restaurant that serves delicious food with fierce atmosphere!
Yaffa Cafe is on Saint Marks Place in the East Village and has been around forever. They are open 24 hrs. so if you are there in the wee hours of the morning, you are sure to see an eclectic mix of drag queens, indie rockers and business men. They serve everything from hummus plates to veggie wraps to pasta dishes, and the prices are very reasonable.
There’s a huge outdoor patio to dine in as well. It’s definitely one of my favorite places in the city to grab a bite and take in the vibe that makes NYC so special.
Hope everybody’s week is off to a great start!
